Local officers elected
Clean sweep for PiPressers
10 Nov 2009
Minnesota Newspaper Guild
Two incumbent officers and a veteran member of Local 37002’s Representative Assembly have been elected by wide margins to the union’s newly constituted Executive Committee.
In vote results tabulated Nov. 5, Guild members elected Carol Kusnierek as secretary, Kelly Blaiser as treasurer and Cheryl Burch-Schoff as editorial vice president. Kusnierek and Blaiser were running for new two-year terms as incumbents, while Burch-Schoff was elected for the first time as the local’s editorial vice president after serving as a member of the RA.
All three women work at the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Defeated in the election were Minneapolis Star Tribune unit members Steve Brandt, Chris Serres and Warren Wolfe.
The newly elected officers will join President Ann Wilhelmy, Commercial Vice President Gayle Grundtner, Print Sector President Mike Goblirsch and At Large Representatives Candace Lund and Michael Moore on the Executive Committee.
The chairs of units with more than 50 members - the Pioneer Press, Star Tribune and interpreters at Hennepin County Medical Center – will also join the Executive Committee after unit elections during the next few weeks.
The new officers will begin their new terms in January.
